CEO Marcus Chew Reinforces Team Commitment and Safety Culture During Rig Visits

EDrill Vencedor Team Signing Safety Commitment Pledge Banner with Energy Drilling CEO, Marcus Chew (left-most)

Offshore Thailand, 30 October 2025 – Energy Drilling CEO Marcus Chew visited the EDrill-Vencedor and EDrill-2 rigs this month to engage directly with crew members and leadership teams, reinforcing the company’s commitment to safe, disciplined, and people-centred operations.

During the visit, Marcus recognised the dedication of both crews and acknowledged the visible improvements since EDrill-Vencedor’s activation post-shipyard and EDrill-2’s steady operational performance in the Gulf of Thailand. He expressed gratitude for the strong feedback received from both onshore and offshore stakeholders about the quality and professionalism of Energy Drilling personnel.

At EDrill-Vencedor, Marcus began by asking a simple but important question:

“If we have good people, why are we still seeing frequent incidents?”

His message was not about blame, but about change, encouraging every team to take ownership of improvement and to support one another more closely. Marcus emphasised that leadership and accountability are shared responsibilities, and that genuine care between colleagues builds the foundation for both safety and performance.

“When we truly care about one another, we become vigilant. That’s what keeps us safe.”

To illustrate the power of steady progress, he used the metaphor of filling three cups each day, small, consistent actions that, over time, create lasting results. He challenged both crews to focus on one shift at a time and set a goal to achieve a full year of incident-free operations.

At the close of the EDrill-Vencedor session, Marcus led the entire crew in reciting and signing the EVE Safety Commitment Pledge Banner, reaffirming that discipline, integrity, and teamwork are the foundation of safe operations. The signed pledge banner now hangs prominently onboard as a daily reminder of shared responsibility.

In a separate meeting with supervisors, Marcus and the leadership team held open discussions about accountability, communication, and leadership. He stressed the importance of leading by example, maintaining transparency with onshore teams, and re-establishing the buddy system to strengthen situational awareness.

Department heads voiced their optimism and unity in driving improvement, with a shared agreement to hold follow-up sessions to track progress.

Marcus also visited EDrill-2 with the VP Thailand Offshore Drilling Operations Manager (PTTEP), where they observed strong operational discipline and collaboration between offshore and onshore teams. Marcus highlighted the importance of cross-rig learning, ensuring that lessons and corrective actions are shared fleet-wide so that improvements made on one rig benefit all.

Reflecting on his visits, Marcus commented:

“Our rigs are more than assets; they are communities of people. When we look out for each other, communicate clearly, and uphold our standards, improvement will follow. Our goal is not to be the best overnight, but to be the most improved, every single day.”
